• What Happens During a Dermal Filler Treatment?

  Dermal filler injections are performed by one of our experienced providers. Treatment areas are cleansed, and a topical numbing agent or ice may be used for comfort. Many fillers also contain lidocaine to minimize discomfort.

  Appointments typically last about 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated. Mild swelling or redness may occur but usually resolves quickly. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.

• How Should I Prepare for Dermal Fillers?

  Preparation is minimal. To reduce the risk of bruising, patients are advised to avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements such as aspirin or ibuprofen for one to two weeks prior, if medically appropriate. Makeup may be worn on the day of treatment, although the injection area will be cleansed beforehand.

  Strenuous exercise and direct sun exposure should be avoided for at least six hours after treatment.

• What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

  Dermal Fillers are biocompatible, which means they do not have a harmful effect on the human body. They are designed to create lift and add volume to key areas of the face that show signs of aging. The active ingredient in many of our dermal filler offerings is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a substance that is naturally produced in your body and acts like a sponge to bind and absorb water in our skin. This, in turn, creates volume in the face.

  Many dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps retain moisture and volume in the skin. As we age, hyaluronic acid levels decline, contributing to wrinkles and volume loss.

  Some fillers, such as Radiesse®, contain calcium-based components that stimulate collagen production for longer-lasting support.

• How Long Do Results Last?

  Most dermal fillers last between six months and one year, although some products may last longer. Longevity depends on the filler type, treatment area, skin health, and individual metabolism.

• Are There Risks or Side Effects?

  Dermal fillers are generally well-tolerated when administered by trained professionals. Common temporary side effects include swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising. Rare complications can include infection, allergic reactions, or nodules.
